Saying “yes” to Jesus is the greatest decision you will ever make — and we are celebrating with you. Heaven rejoices when even one person turns to God, and today, that person is you. You are now part of God’s family, loved, forgiven, and made new. No matter who you were or what your story looked like before this moment, Jesus has given you a brand-new start and a hope that won’t fade. You don’t have to have everything figured out right away — you simply get to take one step at a time, learning to walk with the God who made you and loves you deeply.
So… what’s next?
Now that you have made the decision to follow Christ, check out the steps below to see what’s next in your faith journey with Christ.
Step 1: Share Your Decision!
Don’t keep this to yourself — tell someone what God has done in your life. Share it with a friend, a leader, a pastor, or someone who has been cheering you on. Your story doesn’t have to be long, detailed, or perfectly worded. Even if it feels new or fragile, it’s powerful because it’s real. Speaking out what Jesus has done helps anchor that moment in your heart and reminds you that this decision truly matters.
Opening up about your new faith also strengthens you. When you put your experience into words, it becomes more tangible. It creates space for encouragement, prayer, and support from people who want to walk with you as you grow. Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey — community is a gift, and sharing your story is often the first step toward finding it.
And here’s the amazing part: your story could be the light someone else is searching for. There are people in your life who may feel lost, discouraged, or unsure of where to turn. Hearing what God is doing in you might be exactly what inspires hope in them. God loves to use ordinary moments and everyday conversations to change lives.
If you’re not sure who to talk to yet — or if you’d like someone from our team to reach out — we’d love to connect with you. You can fill out the form below, and one of our leaders will personally follow up to encourage you and help you take your next step.
Your story matters. And you don’t have to walk this out alone.
“Has the Lord redeemed you? Then speak out! Tell others He has redeemed you from your enemies!”
Psalm 107:2 (NLT)
Step 2: Get Plugged In!
Don’t try to do this faith journey alone. One of the most important steps you can take as a new believer is to get connected to a church, a youth group, or a community of people who genuinely love Jesus. Faith grows best when you’re surrounded by others who are walking in the same direction — people who can support you, celebrate with you, and remind you of truth when life feels heavy or confusing.
Being part of a Christ-centered community gives you a place to belong. It’s where you’ll find encouragement, friendships, and people who care about your spiritual growth. The right community doesn’t just help you believe in Jesus — it helps you become more like Him. It’s a safe place to ask questions, to learn, to serve, and to discover the gifts God has put inside you.
We grow better together. When you’re connected, you’ll have people who will pray with you, challenge you when you need it, and cheer you on as you take your next steps. You were never meant to carry the weight of life on your own — God designed us to walk in relationship with Him and with one another.
If you’re not plugged in anywhere yet, we’d love to help you get connected.
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)
Step 3: Start Learning His Word!
The Bible isn’t just a rulebook or a collection of ancient stories — it’s one of the main ways God speaks to you today. Every chapter reveals something about His heart, His character, and His deep love for you. Inside its pages you’ll find truth that guides you, encouragement that lifts you up, and stories that show how God has been faithful to real people throughout history.
If reading the Bible feels overwhelming at first, that’s completely normal. You don’t have to understand everything right away. Start simple. A great place to begin is in the Gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. These books introduce you to Jesus: His life, His teachings, His miracles, and the way He loves people. As you discover who He is, you’ll start to see how He’s moving in your own life too.
If you’re not sure where to begin, tools like the YouVersion Bible App can help. It offers reading plans, reminders, verse-of-the-day prompts, and easy ways to explore Scripture at your own pace. It’s a great resource for building a daily habit.
The more time you spend in God’s Word, the more it anchors your heart. When life feels uncertain, Scripture steadies you. When you’re confused, it brings clarity. When you’re overwhelmed, it fills you with hope. Over time, the Bible becomes a source of strength, direction, and comfort as you learn to recognize God’s voice.
Take it one day at a time. Even a few verses can make a difference. Let God speak, and let His Word shape your new journey with Him.
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path”
Psalm 119:105 (NLT)
Step 4: Talk to God Daily!
Prayer doesn’t have to sound fancy or formal — it’s simply conversation with God. You can talk to Him about anything: your day, your worries, your hopes, your questions, your dreams. He isn’t looking for the “right” words; He’s looking for your heart. God actually wants to hear from you, and He invites you to come to Him just as you are.
As you begin praying regularly, you’ll start to notice something beautiful: you’ll recognize His presence more clearly. Prayer helps you slow down, breathe, and remember that God is near. It keeps your heart close to Him and gives space for peace to settle in where anxiety once lived. Over time, prayer becomes less of a task and more of a lifeline — a natural, steady rhythm in your relationship with Jesus.
You don’t have to pray long prayers. You don’t have to know what to say. Just start talking. God listens. God responds. And God walks with you through every moment, big or small.
“Dear God, thank You for hearing me. Teach me to talk to You honestly and to trust that You’re always near. Help me grow closer to You each day as I learn to pray. Amen.”
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)
Step 5: Go Public!
Baptism is a symbol — a physical picture of a spiritual truth. It represents what Jesus has already done in your heart. The water shows that you’ve been washed clean and forgiven. Going under symbolizes your old life being buried with Christ, and coming up represents the brand-new life you now have in Him. It’s a reminder that you’ve been made new, redeemed, and set apart.
Baptism is a powerful moment — not just for you, but for everyone who witnesses it. When people see you take this step, they’re reminded that God is still transforming lives, still saving people, and still writing new stories every single day. Your baptism becomes a testimony of God’s grace and a celebration of what He’s done.
When you choose to be baptized, you’re making a public declaration that Jesus is your Savior and you’re committed to following Him. It’s an act of obedience, surrender, and joy — all wrapped into one moment. You don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t have to be perfect. Baptism is simply a step of faith that says, “My life belongs to Jesus.”

“For we died and were buried with Christ by Baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
